The Engineering Manager is a key role within the Engineering function. Leading a collaborative, multi-skilled team in all aspects – line management, personal development, setting and monitoring objectives, and leadership in technical delivery.

Responsibilities:

As part of the engineering team, you’ll be responsible for building large-scale data management and analytics platforms, using a variety of tools.

  • Building and managing high-performance team of Software Engineers, supporting them with talent growth and aspirations
  • Setting clear objectives and development plans to help grow the competence of team members
  • Working closely with Delivery and Operations teams to gather development requirements
  • Working strategically with the Engineering Leadership team to ensure a consistent approach across all teams, and making sure resource is effectively utilised
  • Maintaining a broad knowledge of the technology landscape helping to maintain market-leading tools and technology
  • Championing infrastructure-as-code and automation in every aspect of the solution, encouraging a platform-agnostic approach
  • Leading definition and maintenance of best practice and standards in engineering, architecture, development, testing, and support
  • Ensuring that all platforms are delivered in a secure, supportable and scalable manner and are documented appropriately
  • Championing Information Security to meet high-security standards of data solutions
  • Sharing knowledge with the wider community, via the company’s blog and through community and company events
  • Traveling to client sites may be required from time-to-time

The Ideal Person:

  • Can demonstrate the ability to communicate with impact with the team, stakeholders and clients
  • Significant expertise in managing and leading diverse technical teams
  • Experience of managing development teams directly rather than as part of a delivery process
  • Experience in leading teams through organisational change
  • Problem-solving and decision making at both an individual and organisational level
  • The ability to provide technical and thought leadership
