The business has grown largely through word-of-mouth and the development of opportunities exploited by the directors and senior members of the team. Many clients have been retained for very long periods of time, which is down to the hard-working nature of all their staff and their ability to get results and provide consistent ROI.

As the business adjusts to a more proactive sales approach, a big opportunity exists for the right person to help their new business become even more profitable and productive. They specifically want to focus on building up their translation and localisation services by offering these newest additions to our diverse portfolio of services.

Key Objective:

  • This role requires a confident and forward-thinking person to generate new translations business across any industry as well as develop pre-existing relationships
  • It is essential that this person keeps abreast of all new business developments and keeps the prospect database updated with all new service opportunities available to them.
  • They will build and maintain a good professional relationship with new and existing clients, using ‘best practice’ account management skills, to ensure the company can exploit ongoing and additional business opportunities.
  • This role comes with unlimited scope for both earnings and growth.

Main tasks of the job:

  • Identify target areas/sectors for translation business
  • Meet and exceed individual sales targets related to our translation department
  • Follow through on new business sales opportunities and generated leads
  • Build up a prospect database to update and revisit with new translation service offerings
  • Handle and manage inbound translation sales inquiries
  • Liaise with the Head of Sales for new service opportunities
  • Develop a full understanding of the company’s products and services, including pricing
  • Produce high-quality, bespoke client proposals and presentations
  • Build and develop strong internal relationships as well as external relationships with potential and current customers
  • Identify new leads and opportunities for further commercial development within the business
  • Regular reporting, forecasting and contracting
  • Represent the company impeccably at company and wider industry events

  • Relevant translation sales experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-starter mentality and pro-active attitude
  • Demonstrable business development skills and good attention to detail
  • Confidence in approaching clients at all levels
  • A tenacious attitude and willingness to close a sale
  • Ability to operate alone and work with a variety of teams
  • Good presentation skills and very strong interpersonal abilities


  • Sales experience in international markets
  • Knowledge of translation technologies
  • Knowledge of how translations teams operate  
  • Knowledge of most profitable areas in a translations business
  • Knowledge of at least one language aside from English
