Test Engineer Job Description

Summary of position The Test Engineer will be working with our consultancy and SaaS product development teams in a variety of Agile (Scrum, DSDM, Kanban) and more traditional project delivery frameworks to provide test engineering and automation across multiple B2B and B2C services. You will be keen to share your skills and experience with our development teams and promote best practice across the organisation.

You will be self-motivated and willing to contribute to design at all levels, providing guidance to the development teams on test related topics. In addition, you will know at least two scripting/OO/functional languages as well as experience is using test frameworks and toolsets like Selenium/TestComplete/UFT. Responsibilities The Test Engineer will have the following responsibilities:

• Own the quality control capability and evangelise a high standard of testing amongst engineers; • Create, maintain and advocate testing of API services, through the use of multi-layered automation frameworks; • Steer test approach to include mocks, stubs and automated frameworks through early engagement; • Play a part in maintaining and executing non-functional tests for your services; • Create test documentation for internal and external customers; • Escalate serious issues; • Advocate that all engineers in the team are involved with the creation and maintenance of test tooling code; • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to testing problems; • Be flexible in your role and develop yourself to learn new skills when required; • Support your squad’s continuous improvement agenda as part of our high performing team mentality; • Get stuff done properly, first time around; • Make it right and only then make it fast; • If you see something that’s broken, fix it. That includes the coffee machine. Skills & Experience The Test Engineer should have experience of delivering test automation and services in a fast-moving IT environment.

In addition, the role holder should have:

• The ability to convey complex technical information to all team members; • Strong verbal and written communication skills; • Experience in using at least one type of test automation tooling (i.e. Selenium, TestComplete, UFT etc.) • Experience working within an IT support role; • Experience of moving in a fast-paced, agile environment;

Desirable Skills

• Working knowledge of at least one public cloud provider (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS); • Experience forward fixing hardware and or software issues.
