Job Specifics

This is an opportunity to be involved at a vital position in our product evolution. We are looking for a passionate trainee who would relish the opportunity to have real input into the success of our products and company.

The right person is important for this position to integrate into a small, talented and innovative team.  Specific skills and experience in the languages and tools we use is more beneficial than essential.

Principle Accountabilities

Joining a team of professionals whose role is to design, develop and test software to enhance the functionality of our software, which allow automotive retailers to run their business, the role will allow you to learn how to diagnose and fix software faults while working with a mentor.

Successful applicants undergo a series of training projects in the application development environment, after which they work on assignments of increasing complexity, starting with bug fixes and moving on to development of new functionality to designs provided by senior developers.

Future responsibilities will include supporting the creation of eye-catching, meaningful and valuable dashboards on our HTML5 Pi Dashboard and assisting with the ongoing development of coding standards and participating in the quality control activities undertaken in the team, such as test plan creation and code walkthroughs.

This is an opportunity to gain experience of commercial applications development in a professional software company.  You’ll have the freedom to innovate and bring in new approaches to any challenge, including new tech where suitable.

What you will need to do

We are looking for Trainee developers who passionately care about the product they are creating, and who take real ownership of their work. Creativity and conscientiousness are highly valued and innovative ideas are rewarded.

We are very much a team orientated organisation, where each member contributes collectively to a greater goal. We operate a Scrum implementation in Jira. Each team (and in turn member) owns their deliverables right through to production, and as such high quality are a fundamental team expectation along with proactive support should any issues arise.

Previous programming experience and/or a degree in Computer Science would be an advantage but these are not mandatory as full training will be given.

Main skills used in Panintelligence are:

HTML, CSS, Java, Angular, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks, Groovy, XML, SQL, Web Frameworks and Business Intelligence.

Other tools used are:

Intellij, Git, Docker and Jira

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate the following:

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience or understanding of software systems design tools and languages,
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Understanding of design for software systems running on multiple platform types,
  • Understanding of basic testing, coding, and debugging procedures,
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes and programs enhancements, updates, and changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools,
  • Executes established test plans and protocols for assigned portions of code; identifies, logs, and debugs assigned issues,
  • Develops understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development,
  • Participates as a member of project team of other software developers to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions.
